Project Overview

The Dusit Thani Beachfront Residences Project (also known as "The Beachfront") is a benchmark five-star beachfront resort apartment and hotel development. Born from China-Sri Lanka cooperation, the property is managed by the renowned Thai hospitality group, Dusit International.

  • Location: Balapitiya, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. It faces the Indian Ocean to the west and adjoins the A2 Highway to the east, located approximately 112 km from Colombo.

  • Client/Owner: Indola Group (Sri Lanka) + Dusit International (Thailand).

  • General Contractor: China State Construction International Holdings Limited (CSCI) / China Construction Third Engineering Bureau (Phase I & Phase III).

  • Total Investment: Approx. USD 200 million.

  • Contract Value: Approx. USD 92 million (Phase I: USD 35 million; Phase III: USD 57 million).

  • Construction Period: Commenced in March 2017, developed in three phases.

Safety Experience Center (HSE Training Pavilion)

As a flagship HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) model for China Construction's overseas projects, the site features an immersive Safety Experience Center. This initiative contributed to the project winning the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council in 2021.

  • Target Audience & Function: Dedicated to both Chinese and Sri Lankan employees, offering bilingual instruction (Chinese and English) and mandatory localized training.

Core Experience Zones

  • Physical Kinesthetic Training: Helmet impact test, safety harness fall arrest, opening/void fall simulation, comprehensive electrical safety, firefighting and extinguishing, scaffolding balance test, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) display.

  • VR High-Risk Simulation: 136-meter super high-rise fall simulation, coastal deep foundation pit collapse, typhoon/storm surge scenarios, high-salinity corrosion risks, and heavy machinery hazard simulation.

  • Practical Assessment: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) first aid, coastal hazard identification (anti-corrosion and typhoon prevention), and a bilingual safety quiz competition.

Management Highlights

Training Regime: A strict "3-hour immersive experience + 1-hour assessment" protocol; successfully passing the assessment and obtaining a certificate is a prerequisite for site access.

Localized Instruction: Courses are delivered by local safety officers.

Safety Track Record: The project has successfully maintained a record of zero fatalities and zero severe injuries.
